LAGOS  – Former President Oluse­gun Obasanjo, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of La­gos State, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa and other promi­nent Nigerians have extolled the virtue of Ndigbo during the 2021 Igbo Day celebration organized by the Lagos State chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo.

The Igbo Day celebra­tion in Lagos State, which took place on Sunday, has as its theme, ‘Celebrating Primordial Brotherhood Between Igbo and Yoruba’, also attracted dignitaries from across the country, including Obasanjo, Sena­tor Florence Ita-Giwa, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, former Super Eagles technical ad­viser, Bonferer Jo, serving and former members of the National Assembly, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly called Obi Cubana, chair­man of Chisco motors, pop­ular Nollywood actors and a host of others.

Obasanjo in his speech said he would do everything within his power to ensure the unity of Nigeria, stress­ing that unity and justice are vital for sustainable peace.

“Igbo people are widely travelled and their contri­butions to the growth of the country cannot be over­emphasised. We need one another in the country for sustainable peace,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu said he is proud to associate with Ndigbo because of their con­tribution to the prosperity of Lagos State.

The governor, represent­ed by Chief Joe Igbokwe, his special adviser on drainage, expressed his delight with Ndigbo.
